DISTRIBUTION

  •  All users have been assigned a priority code on the distribution database. The codes are assigned so that those users with a greater need to have publications in a timely manner receive the appropriate attention. The codes are as follows:

a. Priority 0. Assigned to extremely high priority users (units on active deployment, etc.) Publications to be delivered as soon as possible. Method of despatch is to be by hand or same-day/overnight courier.

b. Priority 1. Assigned to units engaged in operational flying tasking, or those units directly supporting Priority 0 units. Publications will be despatched by any means required, to arrive not later than ten days before the effective date of the publication.

c. Priority 2. Assigned to units engaged in non-operational flying tasks, or those units directly supporting Priority 1 units. Publications will be despatched by any means required, to arrive not later than ten days before the effective date of the publication.

d. Priority 3. Assigned to units directly supporting Priority 2 units. Publications will be despatched by normal (ie, not same-day or overnight) courier or mail, to arrive not later than the effective date of the publication.

e. Priority 4. Assigned to any units not assigned a higher priority. Publications will be despatched by mail only. Delivery by the effective date is not guaranteed.

  • The priority assigned to a user is detailed on the address label and on the packing slip which accompany all deliveries. Any unit which considers that it has been assigned an inappropriate priority may address the issue by submitting written justification for a review of its priority to Distribution Coordinator - RAAF AIS.

Note: Exceptions to the above delivery schedules are AIPAB, CHAD and foreign source documents including US DoD, RAF MoD and Canadian DND:

a. Cut-off dates for AIPAB and CHAD are reduced to eight days before the effective date so that they reflect the latest information. They should reach all users within Australia not later than two days before the effective date (additionally, AIPAB and CHAD are available on the Defence Intranet/Internet up to 8 days prior to the effective date. International users will receive AIPAB and CHAD not later than the effective date.

b. At best, foreign documents are received by DPS seven days prior to the respective AIRAC date, but more usually only two to four days prior. These documents are distributed to units immediately they are received. RAAF AIS is continually liaising with suppliers of foreign source documents in an attempt to increase the lead time for these documents.
